Khadim Ali
Khadim's recent series of works, Rustam references the impact of violence and war on the minds of children. Originally from Bamiyan in Afghanistan and trained in miniature painting at the National College of Arts, Lahore, Khadim draws on imagery from sources including the Shahnamah and the Bamiyan Buddhas. Khadim returned to
Bamiyan to work with children who grew up surrounded by war. Drawings by these children form the base on which he then layers his own imagery, or imposes a composition, culled in part, from the miniature tradition.

Khadim's work was included in the Asia Pacific Triennial, 2006 and is currently being exhibited at Gemak, Gementee Museum, Netherlands. Khadim received his BFA from the National College of Arts, Lahore in 2003 and has recently completed residencies at the Fukuoka Museum of Asian Art, Japan and the Queensland Art Gallery in Australia. Khadim lives and works in Quetta, Pakistan.
