Muhammad Zeeshan |

An undercurrent of violence pervades Mohammad Zeeshan's beautifully, almost meditatively, rendered paintings, suffusing his work with a deeply embedded tension. Working most often with the miniature technique, with flashes of his sculptural training visible, Zeeshan explores the rot within and depravity behind the social and political milieu in contemporary society. Zeeshan also works in video and collage to explore these themes, most recently juxtaposing unlikely elements to construct incongruous images of the American flag, often offering images that are in turn playful and loaded with meaning.
Zeeshan trained in miniature painting and sculpture at the National College of Arts, Lahore receiving his BFA in 2003. He has exhibited in Asia, Europe and US. Zeeshan lives and works in Lahore.
